Hi, I am the Instructor
Singing Technique and Vocal Coaching
I have been teaching voice in Austin, Texas for over 20 years. Originally from New York, I moved to Austin in 1994 to pursue graduate degrees at the University of Texas at Austin. In 2004 I completed my doctorate in Vocal Performance with a specialization in avant garde / 20th century music. After graduating, I turned my focus toward popular styles and worked with many of Austin’s bands and singer-songwriters. Currently, I can found singing with the Austin Jazz Workshop, Buzz and the Blue Cats (a variety band that performs music from the past 70 years), and my own jazz combo. My first full-length jazz album is on sale now.
As an instructor, I teach all styles of music. I apply the science of the singing voice and solid technique to any style in order to help the student find their most authentic sound and to bring the joy of music and singing into peoples’ lives. For the past three years, I have also been teaching vocal classes at Girl Guitar in Austin, including; Vocal Boot Camp, Vocal Harmonies and several workshops. And on Thursday mornings, you can find me at the Armstrong Community Music School teaching toddlers and their parents how to make Music Together.
