EAR TRAINING

You don’t have to read a book to learn music theory and ear training. It is easier and more fun to learn if we experience it. I combine elements of: Dalcroze Eurythmics (movement that helps internalize rhythm); Kodaly (pre-notation method to develop strong aural skills; and Orff (developing musical creativity through movement and improvisation and percussion instruments) to create a rich musical experience. And if you still want to read that theory book, I won’t stop you. After taking this class it will make more sense!

Beginning Ear Training

You might remember a little music theory from grade school or piano lessons. Maybe you never had an opportunity to learn it and now you’re ready. Ear Training I will help you connect the dots…literally!

VOCAL BOOT CAMP

Vocal Boot Camp is designed for anyone who would like to improve their technique and become a more successful performer. Whether you are new to singing or you’ve been singing for a long time, there is always more that we can add to our development as a singer.

Technique & Song Study

All healthy singing is supported by solid technique. It doesn’t matter whether you sing pop, country, or soul. This course focusses on alignment, breath support, and resonance - the building blocks of singing. We will apply these techniques to 2 or 3 songs as we work through the process of learning a song from beginning to end.

Meets Tuesdays from 7:15-8:15pm OR Sundays from 3:15pm-4:15pm. Session runs from June 8th-July 13th. Can be attended in-person or online.

Song Interpretation & Style

In this 5-week course you will bring 1 or 2 songs to prepare for performance, whether it’s on stage or in the shower (we’ve all gotta start somewhere!). The group dynamic is particularly beneficial because each member of the class brings a unique prospective that can help the singer add depth and understanding to the song/s being prepared. And a great by-product is that you learn a bunch of songs by listening to your classmates!

Meets Tuesdays from 7:15-8:15pm OR Sundays from 3:15pm-4:15pm. Session runs from July 15th-August 17th. Can be attended in-person or online.
